Missional Family Sunday

Youtube-Image_Missional-Family.jpg

Our vision at Citizens church is that Missional Families would be a place where we make disciples. We’re reminded in the Bible that we need each other and that our dependency is best practiced through time spent together. This can happen in formal or informal ways.

These Missional Family Sundays are meant to bring us together and to help us focus on Jesus together. This outline is provided to give you a starting point for your time together.

Out of a desire to love our neighbour and do our part in keeping our region safe from further Covid-19 spread, we ask that all missional families follow local protocols such as practice social distancing, hand washing and wearing a mask if needed. if anyone is feeling any symptoms they should not gather with their Missional Family.

God Bless,
Darcy

Scripture Reading

PSALM 96

1 Oh sing to the Lord a new song;
sing to the Lord, all the earth!
2 Sing to the Lord, bless his name;
tell of his salvation from day to day.
3 Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvellous works among all the peoples!
4 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;
 he is to be feared above all gods.
5 For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols,
 but the Lord made the heavens.
6 Splendor and majesty are before him;
strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
7 Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!
8 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
bring an offering, and come into his courts!
9 Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness;
tremble before him, all the earth!
10 Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns!
Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved;
he will judge the peoples with equity.”
11 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;
let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
12 let the field exult, and everything in it!
Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy
13  before the Lord, for he comes,
for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness,
and the peoples in his faithfulness.

Group Prayer Time

Spend time in prayer together.

Confession

Confession is a time for us to collectively and individually remember God’s love towards us through the death of his son Jesus. We want to confess our personal sin to God in prayer and thank him for his provision that covers our sins past, present and future.

1 PETER 5:6-11

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11 To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Discussion

We have finished twenty weeks of study through the book of Acts. Here are a few questions to give you Missional Family an opportunity to reflect on lessons learned.

Is there a story that was a highlight? Why did the story leave an impression?

Is there a characteristic of God that was put in the spotlight in Acts?

Was there there something that you struggled to wrap your mind around?

What questions were you left with?

Could you pick one word or a phrase to describe the book to someone who hasn’t read it?

Closing Prayer

Option: Eat together (bring your own meal)
