Bring Them Up - Ephesians

  1. Why do you think it is that children are told to obey their parents, rather than parents being admonished to obey their children?

  2. How will teaching a child to obey their parents help them in their relationship with God when they’re older?

  3. What godly examples of parenting have you observed?

  4. What can we learn about parenting from God’s character and his relationship with us?

  5. How can we grow to love and obey God as our Father despite any mistakes our parents may have made in parenting us?

  6. There are many ways one can provoke a child to wrath. Some of these include: neglecting spending time with them, modelling sinful behaviour, being violent, constantly finding fault with them, not setting proper boundaries for them, comparing them to others, or not keeping your word.

    • If you’re a parent, set aside a time this week to talk with God and your spouse about your relationship with your child(ren).

    • Confess your need for God’s help in your weaknesses.

    • Then make a plan of small steps you can take to better engage with your children with the purpose of pointing them toward the Lord.
