ACTS 2

The time has come. The Spirit has fallen and Peter delivers his first sermon to Jews gathered in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost. 3000 choose to follow Jesus as Messiah and the Church is born.

Make a list of the places you see the Spirit at work in Acts 2.

Read Acts 2:5-11 and Genesis 11:1-9.

How does the story of the day of Pentecost (Acts 2) contrast the story of Babel (Genesis 11)?

Read Acts 2:42-47.

  2. What would you say are the essential things that characterized the early church?

Reflect on the idea of repentance being about both turning away from something and turning towards something. What are things that meeting Jesus has caused you to turn away from? What things have you turned towards?

What do you think the “deepest longings” of people in this area are?
