QUESTIONS
In Acts 18:20-21 we see Paul decline a request to stay longer in Ephesus. He appears to do so without guilt and with a confidence that he is following God’s will. How can we respond to requests with this same confidence in the Lord’s leading in our lives? What makes it difficult for you to discern whether to say “yes” or “no” in response to different opportunities to serve others?
Acts 18:23 isn’t the first time we’ve read about “strengthening” others. Look back at Acts 14:21-28, 15:32, 41. What is the importance of growing in strength and helping others to grow?
What holds you back from being a part of strengthening others in their walk with Jesus Christ? What keeps you from pursuing this in your own life?
In Acts 18:24-28, we see how Priscilla and Aquila “took him (Apollos) aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.” Paul faces a similar situation in Acts 19:1-7. What can we learn from how Priscilla, Aquila and Paul corrected and encouraged these other disciples and from how Apollos and the other disciples responded?
How did Paul’s lengthy stay in Ephesus impact the area? Acts 19:8-12
What two points does Demetrius use to try and stir up opposition to Paul and his teaching? Acts 19:23-28
Read Acts 19:26. Apparently Paul’s ministry has been so effective that it has affected the economy. What are some ways that true Christianity has changed society as the Gospel has spread?
From this passage, Is there cause for thanksgiving or praise to God?
Is there a promise or truth to trust in?
