In Our Suffering - Mark

  1. Although the consultation between the chief priests, elders, scribes, and the whole council was ill-intentioned (verse 1), it demonstrates the importance and power of planning in our lives. Do you have others you go to for wise counsel and advice? Can you share an example of a life decision where you involved other believers and benefited from their advice? (Proverbs 12:15, 15:22, 19:20-21)

  2. The human race has a long track record of rejecting the true King. Look back in 1 Samuel 8:4-7 and compare that passage with Mark 15:6-14. What does this reveal about what we think we need compared to God’s eternal perspective of our needs?

  3. Considering question 2 above, how should this influence our prayer life? Specifically, how can it change what we pray for and how we respond to God’s answers to our prayers?

  4. Pilot wished to satisfy the crowd (verse 15), which is something we can all be drawn to do in various circumstances. What practical steps can you take to grow in being satisfied by all you have in Christ instead of looking for satisfaction in the world?

  5. Find a verse or passage that you can meditate on this week to remind you of all you have in Christ.
